Strawberries Make You Pretty!

So we all know that eating fruits is good for you, but did you know that consuming fruits high in antioxidants can help prevents sun damage, and aging! Thats right fruits, like strawberries, make you pretty!!! As if we need another reason to eat some juicy strawberries!

Guilt Free- Strawberry cake

This is a completely healthy and guilt free dessert that will satisfy your sweet tooth. So go ahead have seconds! This recipe resembles a pie and consists of a crust made completely of nuts and honey with a creamy interior.

Serves (4-5)

Ingedients:

  • 1/2 cup toasted walnuts
  • 1/2 cup toasted hazelnuts
  • 1/2 cup toasted pecans
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 2 cups plain yogurt

Crust

( ground the walnuts, hazelnuts, and pecans together in a food processor. Place the ground nuts in a bowl and add honey. Kneed the mixture together and gradually add the vanilla extract. When the nuts reach a dough like consistency, take a pie pan and flatten the mixture at the bottom and sides of the pan (as you would a pie crust). Put in the oven at medium high heat (300 degrees) until the crust turns golden brown. Meanwhile take the plain yogurt and put it in the blender with honey, and the strawberries. Place in a bowl and set aside. After you remove the crust from the oven pour the strawberry yogurt on it and put in the freezer (over night) When you serve this place thinly sliced fresh strawberries on it, and enjoy!

Rouge Coco

Those days of endlessly avoiding the lipstick aisle may come to an end, thanks to Chanel's new line of lipstick labeled "Rouge Coco". The Rouge Coco Lipsticks are mean to be hydrating, and long lasting in an attempt to attract
lip gloss addicts back into the world of lipstick. This collection retails for $30 a piece, and is meant to replace Chanel's existing "Hydra base" line. The fact that it is easy to apply is not the only reason these are selling out like wild fire. There is something so refreshing, and sophisticated about putting on lipstick, (not to mention an actual Chanel lipstick). I decided to take this Line for a run and went out and purchased the Mademoiselle shade, and I have to tell you the second I applied it to my lips I felt like I could conquer the world. The color was a barely there pink, that gave my lips a natural flush. I was actually surprised to find that this product gave me a shiny finish, although I did apply lip balm prior. Then there came that rush of self confidence that only comes when applying a $30 lipstick, and that to me, makes this lipstick a definite new staple in my makeup bag.

The Million Dollar Facial

Theres no doubt that women go to great extents to achieve a flawless complexion.Whether it's sitting under a laser, or scrubbing off dead skin cells with harsh chemicals, theres no denying our eternal longing for more youthful skin. That's why I wasn't at all in shock when I came to discover that many upscale spas were now offering 24Kt facials for some of their more demure clients. Ok so technically the facial itself doesn't actually cost a million dollars, but you get what I mean. According to Victoria Korytova at spa V "24kt gold has the same bioelectricity as the human body. Its absorbed by the skin very easily and it instantly replenishes the complexion giving you that glow of runway celebrities." This undeniably glamorous facial can run up to $300 and is said to leave you feeling relaxed pampered, and glowing. Hollywood royalty, and Global royalty alike have been using this technique for decades before major events in order to appear more youthful. If you feel up for the 24Kt experience, may I suggest you try a little bit of lemon juice and honey. Not to be the bearer of bad news, but aside from feeling like a million bucks the 24Kt facial won't have any long term benefits, a homemade facial or a clay mask will probably have a better affect.
P.S: You can save the $300 and reward yourself with a nice hand bag later. :D

White is the New Black This Summer

Whether its on the runways of Paris or the streets of LA, white has become the biggest fashion trend this summer! Sweeping across the globe, this color has been the main focus of many clothing designers this season. So what exactly makes white, the new black? Technically speaking, white is more popular during the summer due to its ability to refract light, therefore making you feel cooler under the heat. When the temperature goes up, people tend to ditch darker hues for more light and breezy colors.
Another reason individuals tend to navigate towards it would be the fact that, when wearing white, you can't go wrong! It is a sophisticated, and slimming color, that can make you look fresh, and youthful. White is a universal tone that can be worn with anything. You can go Miami vice, and wear white from head to toe, or you can jazz it up by mixing in some pastel tones. It may take some experimenting until you find the right look for you, but remember be creative and its you who wears the clothes, don't let the clothes wear you!

Summer Makeup Tips

For most of us summer means, boundless nights lounging by the pool, camp fires, beach volley ball, and long road trips, but when the temperature starts to sky rocket, and the sun becomes unbearable, the last thing you want to worry about is eyeliner running down your face. Summer is the time to lighten up your beauty routine, and that does not mean throwing out your entire makeup bag. You just have to opt for a lighter approach. Using these tips you can achieve that vibrant summer glow in an instant.

Base: For you foundation I would suggest switching to a tinted moisturizer with a high SPF, and topping it off with a translucent powder. Personally, I prefer to mix my foundation ( I love MAKE UP FOR EVER mat velvet + Mattifying foundation) with a high SPF sunscreen ( like Neutrogena Spectrum + with an SPF of 100). When it comes to sun protection many of us refuse to reapply our sunscreen in order to avoid that greasy look, but finding a good powder with a high SPF, can save your skin in the long run. If you are still afraid of looking like a grease ball, make sure to stash some oil blotting sheets ( like Clean and Clear Oil absorbing sheets) in your bag for a quick touch up.

If you feel that you need extra coverage on certain areas of your face opt for a concealer with SPF as well, i would recommend Neutrogena Mineral Sheers concealer Kit SPF 20, which comes with a translucent powder which will give it maximum staying power.

eyes: When it comes to eye makeup, some of us cannot imagine living a day with out eyeliner, but trust me on this, when at the beach or the pool you are much better off opting for a waterproof mascara. If you feel that you absolutely cannot live without your eyeliner, stay away from kohl, and try experimenting with some water-proof liquid liner. A single line along the top lash line can really open up your eyes and make you appear more wide awake. Make sure to extend the line past your lash line in order to make your eyes appear larger.

lips: The one thing that people have a hard time remembering, is to apply an SPF on their lips. Don't forget, lips age too, and nobody likes wrinkly and shrunken lips. For the hot weather, i would recommend using a lip stain, which will survive all day, and then applying a lip balm with an SPF of 15 or more.

Good luck and Happy summer!

The Price of Beauty

As I had mentioned in my previous post we are all similar when it comes to wanting to look our best. As a result of my fascination with the adhesive power that beauty has all over the globe, I recently came across a television program that captivated me. “The Price of Beauty” starring Jessica Simpson chronicles her journey to capture the essence of beauty. The camera follows her as she makes her way across the globe, discovering sacred beauty rituals that are unique to each country. What I found most intriguing was the vast distinctness in what was defined as “attractive”. Each nation had its own set of ideals when it came to physical satisfaction, yet each was just as obsessed when it came to reaching those standards.

My oh My!

This amazing obsession unites women from all fragments of the universe. It makes no difference whether you subside in the bustling city of New York or the lazy suburbs of St. Oaks Chicago, we are all incontrovertibly lured in by the enchanting galaxy of clothing and beauty products. This fascination has long been the ribbon that has tied the world together. From Los Angeles, to Bombay and every where in between, women will eternally long to look our best. And like a kid in a candy shop, our eyes will forever be captivated by that little black dress in the shop window, or the newest shade of Chanel lipstick. xoxo
